台式風情 Taiwanese Fong Cing

我喜歡觀察環境中那些散發特殊氛圍的空間場域，遊藝場，水族館，歌廳，卡拉ok店...等等，或是一些帶著強烈復古感的裝飾物，我將這些70-80年代台灣流行的風格產物重新並製拼貼，重組成虛構的畫面，在繪畫裡他們轉為一種美學品味的符號，在充滿異質感的場域裡生成某種似曾相似的共有記憶，這些俗氣的、廉價的、重複性的、沒有歷史脈絡的物件，本身就是一個現實空間中的巨大蒙太奇，他們集體指向了在過去時空脈絡下那種對異國情調的嚮往，追尋華麗摩登的生活品味，在當代的日常中卻演變成怪異突兀的景象。

I observe the environment with a special atmosphere, such as amusement parks, aquariums, ballrooms , karaoke bars and others, as well as decorations with a strong retro vibe.  I reassemble and collage these popular styles of 70s to 80s Taiwan, reconstruct them into fictional scenes that become aesthetic symbols in my works. In these heterogeneous spaces, they generate a shared memory that feels familiar yet elusive.These kitschy, cheap, repetitive objects with no historical context are themselves a huge montage in a realistic space, collectively represent to a longing for exoticism in the past, pursuing a glamorous modern lifestyle, but it turns into a strange and abrupt scene from our daily life.
